Noa Fulu: A Tribal Lizardfolk, Rogue 3 (Thief) Totem Barbarian (X). Originally Noa Fulu was just a one shot character, based on our DM's Lizardfolk version of Queequeg from moby-dick, but he was just too fun to play, and is currently on a proper adventure!

I play him as the party's ranger type, the hunter guiding the group. When it comes to combat, theres a dynamic of Ambush/Entrap/Mislead as they leverage the use of beartraps, stealth, gravity with anger, and resolving tough choices with his mom's knucklebones.

You built a ranger that isn't a ranger, heh. But I think it's a rather unique one. I've seen "barcher" bard archer builds as substitute rangers before, and of course the archery style fighter. Hell, I've even tinkered with an elven accuracy bladesinger archer. But Rogue/Totem is cool.

How does it play? Like, what does your action economy look like?

Utilizing high walk speed (mobile and Barbarian), with the Eagle totem/Cunning actions, it usually goes Bonus action dash to gap close.

Depending on the situation, reckless attack for the free sneak bonus, and then simply walk away to a more advantageous position.

Using second story work for verticality, Noa will throw heavy objects (Himself included), and set up traps/combat helpers for the party (Ropes, caltrops, acids/oils, crossbows, alarm strings, etc.).

Couldn't pick a lock or pocket to save his life though!

Just shrugs at the party: "what? do rangers pick locks?"
