Hour long first episode and hour long finale, this show likes to go all out. I did not for one second believe anything would happen to Nezuko, but they made it very emotional regardless. And while they did not mention it, Tanjiro has now been an essential aspect of killing not one but two upper rank demons, surely that's enough to get a promotion to Hashira? I feel like he's earned it.
