Email is a federated platform and everybody uses it, give it time

The web is a federated platform and everybody uses it....

I've posted in another community today that, if you're into virtual worlds, the fediverse is like Opensim's hypergrid compared to Reddit et al., which are like Second Life's monolithic central server. Or like email (federated) compared to an internal chat server (monolithic).

The entire social media sphere used to be like this. Give it time. People will remember or learn how to do this again.
