A Unix-like OS is preferred, but any operating system is fine, as long as you are doing cool, or unique stuff with it.

the desktop in this image is just Arch Linux

using E25 for desktop shell, with changed color and slight theme edit to rearrange stuff in title bar a bit
kitty for terminal, with the bell sound ripped from terminology because it's a literal bell sound

and another machine running FreeBSD:

it's sitting right behind me, hence the ssh to show system info and logo

Thank you for the detailed info. I’ve never used anything but Windows and Mac but have recently started looking into Linux.

I’ve got my hands on a spare machine to play around on, so I’m going to start learning this weekend.

Co-worker is using Pop_OS, so that is what I’m going to try, with the idea that I can bug him with questions.
