I feel like they left out the key point that his submersible went to the deepest known point on the entire planet (~36,000ft, almost 3x the depth of the titanic). it was only the fourth dive ever made to the challenger deep. and he didn't get turned into human salsa

He also did a solo dive. Something I feel like you wouldn't do unless you were heavily involved in the community.

It took him and an engineer 7 years to design and develop challenger deep.
