Uhmm, there is already /c/selfhosted and /c/selfhost which are already a duplication I don't understand, so why have a third?

the selfhosted subs are specifically for selfhosting applications and the services that run with them like nginx, while this sub is geared more towards running a server at home (hardware, software, networking, builds). For having two selfhosted sub, i don't know why they did that but, I'm not a mod so I can't do anything.

Selfhosted is usually referring to having your own hardware at home, with VPS as a secondary choice. So I still think those are duplicates.

The creator wants to emulate r/homelab which is just getting upvotes for pictures of expensive server racks tucked into closets. Lets be honest here.

Exactly, luckily, all the communities that tend to be about low-effort content don't really take off here. I've noticed Lemmy is much more about discussion than little dopamine hits
