They dropped that when they joined the NSA's PRISM program.

In any case, they haven't been updating their official dialer in years, and AOSP ROMs have been using their own forks since then. When the forks have tried to submit improvements upstream they've been rejected.

So, ultimately, this doesn't much matter.
