Country music has always been white supremacist though. Sweet Home Alabama, possibly the most famous country song has the following verse:

Well I heard Mr Young sing about her

Well, I heard ol' Neil put her down

Well, I hope Neil Young will remember

A Southern man don't need him around, anyhow

Which is an explicit response and essentially "fuck you" to Neil Young's song "Southern Man", which was calling out the horrors of slavery in the South.
