I think it's a bad idea. Foss communities already exist and the largest two lemmy apps by user base are sync and boost.
Exactly those two are towering over better apps that are foss and respects privacy.
Better by what standard? They aren't the most used apps just for not being foss.
Better by privacy, security and ethical standard.
