Is there a smartphone that I could recommend to someone that currently wants to buy a last generation iphone? They want lots of storage and good battery life I think.

I am worried about all the tracking shit, I guess if the phone could potentially work with lineageOS that would be great too.

tl;dl is there a go-to smartphone atm?

Fairphone is the only consumer device (not hacker device like Pinephone/Librem) that has reasonable hardware and features. To my knowledge, no other device maker even comes close. Specifically i would recommend "Fairphone 3" which is well supported on all free systems, and has a micro-SD slot for "lots of storage".
