We read "All quiet on the Western front" in high school, really wasn't a fan though. From a contemporary aspect it was certainly very informative and detailed, but I really wasn't a fan of the convoluted and often dull writing style.
Decades later I randomly started reading "heaven has no favorites" (found it among my grandpa's book collection after he passed), but I stopped about a third in or so. Really not my style.
Exact same experience here, but only with all quiet on the western front.
I also read only this one and pretty much share the same feelings about it.
