What could that $1,038.85 have bought in 1 month, except fifty points off your credit score? These people torture themselves (and the call center reps) over borrowing relatively small amounts of money with staggering penalty and other fees. It's like getting a title loan with more steps. Is it a cry for the attention and structure in life that their fathers never gave them?
