OP mentioned that there are pretty places, they're just not near anything. I've been to a lot of Texas--Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Amarillo, Midland, Del Rio. None of those are anywhere near Big Bend. I mean, for context, I think El Paso (the only major city nearby) is the halfway point between Dallas and LA. Most of the folks living in Texas aren't seeing the beauty of BB on a daily or even regular basis.
