I gotta say as a neutral I thought there’s no way I could get a good result out of this match but boy was I wrong.

4.5xg for PSG, not quite robbery

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Qataris money > Saudi money

Truly awful decision and I’m a Boro fan…

The handball rule is so fucked, so many results are decided because of it and it’s spoiling the game.

Stupid rules aside, how can that be intentional? Ball hits his chest then arm, blasted at him from a yard away, how is it fair in general to give a penalty in that scenario? If the cross went in from dembele, the direction of the ball is going to the edge of the box, Newcastle had about 6 or 7 players back, what’s the xG of that? 0.01? Versus giving a penalty which has an xG of 0.8 maybe?

Shambles from the ref and VAR, happening way too often.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Only way that's a penalty is if you're playing against Wolves in the prem

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

The game of which oil money are we afraid of more lmao.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

That mbappe ref talk at half time really worked. I need mbappe to talk to my bosses regarding giving me a raise

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

So to try to understand what the thought process was a bit more I went to IFAB, and technically the « chest to arm » scenario isn’t covered.

The closest we have is this :

a player heads/kicks the ball and it then hits their own hand/arm? This is not handball (unless the ball goes directly into the opponents’ goal or the player scores immediately afterwards, in which case a direct free kick is awarded to the other team).

This might seem like semantics but maybe the fact it’s not covered is why he went with it ?

Either way it shouldn’t be a thing, a player simply cannot control or predict where the ball is going in this situation. It’s just too unfair to give a penalty for that.

Terrible decision. Not a penalty.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Never a penalty. Absolutely ridiculous call and some home cooking in Paris

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Also have about 2 PSG players in the box/D when he hits it. Should have retaken it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Man seeing him celebrate a 98th minute equaliser against us - and this XI specifically - his hilarious surreal shit.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

You have to say that is objectively deeply deeply funny.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

The check finally cleared I suppose. 🙄

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Corruption??

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Couldn't have happened to a nicer team!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Horrendous call. When will clubs start fielding amputees to combat this issue?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

VAR=... various Arabic royalties?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

in what bloody universe is that a penalty?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He changed the direction of the ball using his hand which allowed him to get it …..

Hit the elbow in the penalty area, counts as a foul. If it was a tackle, then PSG would be rewarded the penalty. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Can't wait for the Worldnews update, SA invades Qatar

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

If he didn't handball it there'd be no punishment. It's not fair on clubs who don't handball in their area, regardless of mitigating circumstances.

As long as others are treated the same way in future Newcastle should be punished.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Football is just gradually eroding.

It's a low scoring game. One goal makes a massive difference and it's just becoming so often that difference is nothing to do with skill, all to do with decisions.

I dunno why the football authorities want to make it that way.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Booed the hello out of Messi now that he is gonna they have to rob Newcastle lmao

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

I think a lot of us have no idea what the laws are since the commentators have no clue and say things like oh body first never a pen when that might not be in the laws at all.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

PSG has UEFA in their pockets, shaking my head....

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

It’s not even worth being annoyed at these bullshit calls. It’s all a fucking lottery and you either win or lose

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Can’t wrap my brain around who wants to be a defender in todays game, looks like a shit job

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago
[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

lmao at these sportwashing teams fucking each other and calling for justice lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Awful decision by the ref there. The ball clearly touches the body first and then it touches the arm.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Oilcastle United owners haven't got the hang of the bribes yet. It'll come don't worry lads.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

What is he meant to do? Manipulate the laws of physics?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Horrible call indeed. That was totally unintentional. I can only guess the referees discussed that the "arm was extended away from the body" but that is certainly not an "unnatural position". So I don't get what the rule even is anymore.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

There is no question about it Newcastle were robbed.

But by god it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving team😂

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Best case of karma I have ever seen.

Although, unlike the team Newcastle cheated to get three points, they still got one tonight.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Atleast moving forward, the toon know to all chop their arms off before kick off to stop this from happening

Woeful decision ffs

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

You know it’s a terrible call when you feel righteous anger on behalf of a team you hate

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Don't think I've ever seen such agreement on a decision in a thread tbh

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

LOL anything to cheat a win

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

That’s a terrible call. Was it initially called a handball or was this an overturned non-call through VAR? If it was VAR making the call then just even more proof refs will find the way to rig a game.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Ohh nyoo, Newcastle got screwed by VAR?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

That is truly one of the worst calls I’ve seen

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Karma for Arsenal. What goes around comes around.
