It still surprises me how hard Germany have fallen off over the previous 5 years

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

USA sitting at 12 and I'm still not buying it

I think we're overrated by beating up on some of the island nations in CONCACAF. Netherlands handled them with ease for there to be only 6 spots ahead of the US

We also went toe to toe with England. It’s soccer, results are often mixed and sample size is always small.

Taking P6 from Portugal.

Love to see it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah we deserved to go down since we lost and drew so many games in 2023 lmao

Winning against Lichensteinbourg counts as 0.001 points

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Perfect top 3, but the rest of the list is awful.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It's not a subjective list, it's just a rating based on the latest results from the teams. It's a mathematical formula, not something to be taken as a definitive ranking.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How did portugal go down? Literally won every single game this year.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

They again got the esiest group. Its not hard to beat farmers and blacksmiths from lihtenstein.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I know there’s an algorithm to determine this and it’s not exactly based on feelings, but damn, I don’t know anyone who’s watched England play recently that would say they’re the third best team in the world.

Uruguay went from rank 15 to rank 11 by beating brazil and argentina

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

They should be around the top 5 IMO.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They went out in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup. Their ranking isn’t that crazy.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Diego Alonso

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

They are 7th on the Elo rankings

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

A bit much considering Bielsa has only been there a short period, before that Uruguay hadn't been good in years

They're quite easily a top 5 nation right now tbh

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They didn’t look that in Qatar tbf.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Not like we had Bielsa back then

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

What a huge overreaction

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The fact that Belgium is fourth in front of Croatia, Spain, and Italy proves this ranking is nonsense.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

maybe those teams should stop losing games in qualifying, that's really the only way belgium does it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

S E G U N D O F R A N C I A

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Actually curious how Portugal dropped? Havent lost a game in Euro qualifs

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Portugal: won all games from EU qualifiers, 2goals conceded, CR7 2nd best scorer

FIFA: nah take -1 place

lmao

Death, taxes, and Belgium in the top 5

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I know FIFA rankings don't mean much, or at least people shouldn't think too much of them. But they're fun to look at for some reason

Somebody please tell me the last time Belgium made any waves at any tournament. Theyre trash.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

They sure win a lot of games for a team that is trash

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Someone has no clue how the ranking works
