Reddit Was Fun
Memorial to "rif is fun for Reddit" Android app, aka "reddit is fun", shut down after June 30, 2023
Switched from reddit to here. Hopefully we'll see something similar to Rif for lemmy. Fuck reddit and fuck spez.
I suggest giving wefwef a try. It's a web app and it seems really solid. I came here from Apollo, but used rif prior to that and this app seems really nice.
Just made my account here. Rest in power RIF! No RIF no reddit for me. Atm problems to log in on desktop. Thoughts and prayers for the lemmy servers :D
Same, no RIF no reddit, the one only & best for 9+ yrs. Might lurk old.reddit some, but seriously ready to turn a new leaf where my interests aren't sold as potential ad-clickers
Exactly. I pretty much exclusively used RIF for the past 11 years. I might still check old.reddit for local news and maybe subredditdrama to see how reddit's quality is declining, but I will find somewhere else for everything else I used reddit for.
Watch reddit remove old.reddit next
To me this is clearly a future step. Obviously reddit hasn't cared about the user experience in years and have been slowly maneuvering to make changes that benefit profits at the cost of user experience.
For me personally I look back to when Victoria was fired as the first moment I said "oh OK, it's gonna be like that". The value she brought to the site could not be overstated imo. AMAs were a true spectacle before. Ever since then it's felt like reddit was attempting to "make frog soup" by slowly making everything worse and hoping each individual change wouldn't be enough for the frog to jump out.
They'll learn the hard way that it doesn't work I guess lol.
Death of the apps was the line in the sand for me and many others. Old.reddit will inevitably be taken behind the shed one day and I imagine that'll be another line in the sand. And eventually I really do believe reddit will fade out to the level of digg/tumblr/whatever else.
Love the fediverse idea though. He's hoping it takes off.
One final thought... I swear it's amazing how quickly any company goes to hell once it goes public. To me it really feels like the people making these decisions do not understand the products/services they provide and why they're successful.
I'm here as well. I loved the design and feel of RIF.
Just created a profile, I was using rif last night when suddenly I got the api error code, really sad to see it go.
I really hope lemmy replaces reddit, plenty of us here but we need more growth.
Liking it so far.
11 years of Reddit. 42k karma. A top 10 comment in the top 10 posts of all time. Happy to be here and build this up!
Thank you! I'm so sad to see RiF go. I'm hopeful for a bright future.
RIF is still working for me, at least for now. Dreading the moment when it stops. RIF has legit been a part of my life for like 3 years.
Rest in peace RIF.
Reddit is now officially dead to me. It was a fun ride while it lasted.
Does anyone have a good Lemmy App? I have tried Connect and it is okay, but it is no RIF.
Reddit is Fun is still working for me. I can browse subreddits but I can't post or login.
Any good Lemmy app replacing rif? Looking for the ability to show tow rows of cards like rif. I seem to be in the minority for using that feature.
Download Connect for Lemmy, I think reverse row is what you want. You can change it in the settings. I used RIF the same way
I have no idea what I'm doing, but I made it here. I hope to understand instances and whether I need to create other accounts soon.
The creator of sync for reddit is creating a similar app for lemmy, you can sign up for any updates on the sync community here. I plan on downloading that when it comes out.
Edit: I just downloaded connected for lemmy on the Google play store, working great so far!
You'll get it in no time. The best way I've seen it described is email. You can have outlook. I can have Juno. Our pal can have aol. But we can all still talk to each other and see the same emails just as tho we all had the same email provider. Same thing here with instances. They're each like an individual Reddit but we can all see them (for the most part, some have been blocked by others, etc.) And comment in then from our own instances.
