It wasn't a corner because the ref called for a penalty before the ball went out of play. That got overturned, so they gave a drop ball - even though the ball would have obviously gone out of play, the game stopped when the ref blew the whistle.

That was egregious refereeing at the end but we fought hard here. Sanchez and Enzo were absolutely fantastic.

That was way harder fought than it needed to be, especially in a period where we have 3 games in just over a week. Still, hanging in there should be big for developing some of the players' mentality, especially after last week.

Seems fucked they didn't get the corner, but it was correct by the law and probably karma for trying to get a pen when it went off his head. Ref was working to keep Brighton in. To be fair so was chelsea.

For me, the only real controversial call in the game was Caicedo not getting a second yellow for completely studding a Brighton player and going through him from behind a minute before the penalty call.

How did Brighton not get a corner at the end after the VAR review?

Edit: People have explained in the replies how it is the correct call according to the rules, but if the ball clearly goes out immediately and no one had the opportunity to stop it had the foul not been called, I feel like the rule should be to give the corner. (I’m not a Brighton fan either)
