I have a instance, with one person, which is I alone. I also don't follow any instances. Thought it might be a good idea to ask people who they follow for a suggestion.

Some of the ones I've found with actual content on them have been TILvids and watch.breadTube.TV.

They don't accept instance follows for some weird reason, despite this hurting discoverability

It's because the youtubers coming over only agreed for their content to be viewed on tilvid.com, not other instances so they owner follows that.

it doesn't make sense either because there is a specifc setting for that, people can upload video that are not viewable outside the instance.
