Hey gang, looking for some input on some planned purchases. I have likely a month prior to pulling the trigger, can wait if there are expected deals to be had.

Currently live in an apartment and using two Edifier bookshelves for an apartment-friendly setup. Closing on a home February 1st that will be my first proper home theater rig.

The basement itself is a large, open concept. Room is roughly 17’x21’ with a more square-shaped offset that I can slit my tv and audio/couch into. You can think of the room as if a large square with a smaller square off to a corner - there will be sound spilling into the open space.

I likely will begin with 3.1 and expand into 5.1 shortly down the road. I could do it all at once with a compelling deal.

Use case is primarily movies and series, with some occasional PC gaming into a 77” Sony OLED (believe A80K). Budget is roughly $2,500 (not counting accessories like speaker wire, etc).

Current component options:

AVR - Denon s760h, Denon X1700 ($500) Fronts - Monolith T6 ($400/each) Center - monolith THX 365C ($500) Sub - SBS PB-1000 Pro ($800)

My questions: anything that doesn’t fit the room? How much fidelity loss can I expect with the large, open room? Any ways to counter that? Do I need a bigger sub?

Interested in other component recommendations - would love to hear any first-time tips or things you wish you had done differently.

Thanks to anyone that takes time to provide their thoughts, learned a lot trolling the sub and hoping you can help make my home theater dreams come true!
