A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted, clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts: 1

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
    • If you feel strongly that you want politics back, please volunteer as a mod.
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Some people require too much time for even simple tasks. Its not because they are lazy, but they just enjoy it like masturbation. The more time taken to finish, the more pleasure.

Showerthoughts is weird now-a-days.

This is one of the less weird ones.

There have been some bangers lately

My favorite are the really unhinged ones where the OP refuses to elaborate, and you're left with a slightly unsettling feeling about the whole thing, as if you just brushed with the Unabomber's arm in a crowd

Laziness doesn't exist. It's a tactic of capitalism to shame people into doing something they don't want to do. People with ADHD are often called lazy due to executive dysfunction, but again that isn't laziness.

Capitalism just borrowed the whole "lazy" sham from previous systems of control. "Sloth" was one of the seven deadly sins over a millenium before capitalism became anything like it is in modern times. And the church for sure used it as a weapon to shame serfs into working themselves to death for the benefit of their particular lord.

I suppose you could say capitalism was too lazy to come up with something more original.

Also, I don't know why you're getting downvotes.

"if you were lazy, you'd be having fun" was one of those life changing sentences for me

I need 1 hour to get ready to work in the morning, even if i just need to get a shirt and a pair of pants on: not because I'm lazy, but because my brain takes 2 hours to finish booting and when i wake up my conception of time is completely skewed and pretty mutch i look like a robot on autopilot, after those two hours you may be able to have a sensible conversation with me; before of that you'll be lucky i answer something even remotely correct

Wrong. I'm just lazy.
