In reality KDE projects should start with GNU/K, because thr KDE desktop environment is just a small part of the GNU operating system, which is actually the core of the operating system.

/sarcasm

I know you're joking, but KDE is much more than just a Linux desktop environment. They make all sorts of software working on all sorts of operating systems. I use Kdenlive on windows for example. And 90% of browsers nowadays use a fork of KDEs KHTML rendering engine.

Wow, I didn't know about the KHTML rendering engine! I also use kdenlive for (small) video editing; but I don't like that it has too many dependencies (it even installed the phone link thingy)

KDE is my second favorite DE, after XFCE

KDE can run on the BSDs tho, or Alpine (I think)

KI KTotally KAgree

In my work, anything with a K is kubernetes-related

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Unless it's helm. K8s projects are usually named with a maritime pun.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Oh I didn't mean exclusively kubernetes = K.

If it has a K, it's almost certainly k8s related. If it's k8s related, that does not mean it has a K.

Kuality meme.

K9mail, Keepass, (Kamera and Kontakte in German)

And all of those

If the KDE devs ever made a audio editor, they should name it K-on just for the sake of thematic memes

That definitely doesn't spread as much joy as Konqi

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Imagine my surprise when I switched to Linux and my chosen DE had a mascot sharing (sorta) my name!
