Not at all pokey and completely harmless but the legs are VERY grippy. When you pull them off it's like velcro.

I was reading about them and it says they prefer ash trees so maybe look for those in the forests near you. Also in rotted logs and tree stumps.

I'd be insanely disappointed if something so cool didn't turn into a tattoo. That needs to be there forever no matter how long it takes to get it done
