Often I want to check out an instance and read about the meta community and maintainers of the instance. Is there a place in the UI where I can find this, or is there a convention to have some community (named “meta”?) with a meta description about the instance?

All instances have a sidebar that has a short description about itself and its rules. Some have meta communities as you've mentioned. Others also have their own detailed docs page (i.e., docs.instance-name.tld or help.instance-name.tld).

Thanks! I think we also need this in the Lemmy apps out there somehow.
