It's not
Tourists are obnoxious
No? That really depends on the person who's traveling. Saying that all tourist are obnoxious is a fallacy.
What? Saying that saying that is a fallacy is a fallacy
I may have worded my comment erroneously. What I was trying to say is that not all tourist have to be, by definition bad people.
You are right and they aren't "bad people", they are just annoying ;)
Hmmm, most of them? Probably, (I live in a touristic place.) but not all. We can't just generalise.
Depends on what the end goals are. If it is to generate tourism, of course.
And what do you mean by "evil"?
My guess here is βevilβ is the ecological impact of travel. High CO2 outputs from aircraft and prolonged automobile travel.
The rebuttal is: take lower carbon impact travel options.
IMO, traveling is inevitable and, maybe, necessary. There are few other ways to experience a culture and understand a people without it.

But that's a problem related to transportation in general. Not due to tourism. Aside from that we really need to switch out current ways of transportation to better, safer and clean ones.
It may be necessary for some economies, but otherwise it's also inevitable. At the very least it must be tolerated
I live in a big tourist area and american/German tourists are the stereotype you imagine them to be
Tourism isn't evil.
Tourism-centric economies that ignore the needs of local population to serve tourists and make money (... Therefore Capitalism) is evil. Car/plane centric infrastructure that greatly increases CO2 production (.... Therefore CapitalismΒ²) is evil.
Travel and tourism are, in and of themselves, positive and enriching, if you somehow divorce them from said capitalist forces.
Yeah. Tourists are annoying, and can kill your culture. But they pay the bills.
