Hope he did but I don’t consider him a coward at all. With how companies like Nintendo are acting, I can understand his point of view.

Not just Nintendo. That PS jailbreak dude is still suffering from the lawsuit Sony threw at him over a decade ago. And so is Sony, but that one is well deserved, unlike the former.

It had a public github repo so I would expect there to be copies in the wild.
