It looks like it shares some design DNA with the TalkBoy! Guess it comes from being a 90s futuristic kids toy.

Yeah, personally I find the TalkBoy a bit more Poochie-ish but both have that cheap-futuristic vibe:

It used a regular audio cassette, so the video was really crappy.
