When Tim fucking Sweeney calls you out on your bullshit, you know you're a special kind of piece of shit.

[–] [email protected] 50 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not really. Tim Sweeney would sell his grandmother to appear cool / anti-establishment / consumer friendly - while trying everything to establish Epic Store as a monopoly. Once he achieves that, he would lick boots just like the others.

Totally, he wants to be in complete control but since he isn’t, he’s taking shots at people kissing the ring. Were he in control, he’d kiss the ring and beg for regulations on his competitors and not himself.

[–] [email protected] 115 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And he's 100% right.

They're all lining up to kiss Trump's stinky ass because they expect him to provide them with an unprecedented opportunity to thoroughly and completely fuck us all, and there's nothing they want more in the world.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 1 month ago

They are disgusted by Trump but also love what he can do for their wallet. It’s all about money.

[–] psvrh 100 points 1 month ago

He's an opportunistic jackass, but he's not wrong.

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 month ago

If they’re willing to say and do anything to convince government to advantage large corporations at the expense of workers and consumers I don’t think they’re “pretending” to be republicans.

When the worst person you know made a good point.

News flash!

This, just in: "Leaders of capitalist meat grinders prepared to lie to keep money flowing and try to pull in more"

I'm shocked.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

It's funny because the majority of voters thought voting for meat grinders means they'll get the meat, not be the meat.

Fascist country, fascist babyllionaires, fascist businesses = fuck GAFAM.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 month ago

Not who I expected would be saying it loud, but I'll take it.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't get it, what's so "Epic" about this CEO?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago

I came here to make this joke, but I would have gone with something like:
"He's not that epic of a CEO 🙄"

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago

No shit Sherlock Holmes

I reckon we will see the biggest transfer of wealth ever during trumps second term. They are all lining up for the big one. I see them trying to undo Labor laws and deregulate across the board.

I suspect they will push RTO even harder and try to drive down wages but specifically to screw over software developers currently on decent wages firing the lower paid ones, with CEOs claiming AI can do it while manufacturing the narrative that its the new normal 🙄.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

You'd be surprised to hear that most software devs i talk to think the benefits of ai are overrated. The problem is the bubble keeps growing and growing.

.. also leads to worse for all in the meantime.

We're getting it shoved down our throats too. We get asked to use ai to enhance things.. that no one wanted fixed with ai.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

I added some more words to clarify, I meant the CEOs will claim it is replacing the developers. I'm a dev myself, we know it has its uses and its very obvious limitations.

Yes they just slap Ai in the marketing and scale up the price.

It's not pretending if that's what you want. It's just what you are.

In other news, business people say whatever they can get away with to make more money.

[–] tempest 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

No shit right.

People need to stop anthropomorphizing corporations. They are not moral and simply respond to incentives.

They earned good will saying black lives matter and now they earn political will by saying trans lives don't.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Nothing they say is more than PR; no person, thing or idea matters except increasing profits.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He's 100% right. (Still a douche for what he did to Bandcamp though)

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What has he done to bandcamp?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He bought the company to bolster his lawsuits against Apple and Google, only to fob it off to Songtradr a few years later in the middle of the staff unionising. Songtradr then sacked half the staff (coincidentally all the ones who were part of the union) and still refuse to recognise the union to this day.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

That's disgusting.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don’t see how stating the blindingly obvious makes him “epic”.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I didn't understand ether. None of the Epic Games were actually Epic...

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You shut your mouth; Unreal Tournament’99 and 2004 were both legitimately epic in their day!

Now get off my lawn.. *damn kids today*

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Kids there days would say Fortnite is very Epic.... but for me UT2004 was the last game they made that deserved the title Epic/Unreal.

[–] dankm 2 points 1 month ago

UT2K4 was bloody fantastic. It, and Q3 are two of my absolute all time favourites.

Everyone who disagrees can either admit they don't like FPS (which is fine) or get off my lawn.

When are people going to realize that billionaires have no moral code and no ethics. The only thing they want is more money and they will do literally anything to get it, even if they destroy the world.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

It's almost like they have cutting edge artificial intelligence that can brief them on meta game theory and how to ensure successful outcomes for their personal interests, regardless of who's ass they're kissing.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Isn't "skirt antitrust laws, and ultimately 'rip off consumers and crush competitors" making them officially conservatives?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

That's just every major company nowadays

[–] CanadianCorhen 3 points 1 month ago

No shit? Companies will kowtow to curry favor and increase their profits every single time.

If you're at a table with nine Nazis and you don't leave, then the table has ten Nazis at it. History won't care why you were at the table, just that you were there.
