Oooff. That’s had me stressed!

Season 2 had me kinda down. I adored season 1 but it seemed like season 2 didn’t quite know what it was doing. Too slow and underdeveloped.

As it ramped up at the end though I’m really happy with it. And I appreciate the pacing having finished it. Really nice season of TV and I’m totally ready for season 3.

I’ve not read the books, so I don’t know where it’s going.

The whole algorithm thing (that’s apparently what some subtitles have named the voice) … I’m in the fence about the idea of having an AI/algo angle on that … but I guess we still deserve to confront that sort of stuff. I very much appreciated though the structure of there being another level of manipulation. And of course, Bernard refers to them as “who” bit “it” so either he’s naive or there is another organisational element. The additional silo in the “actually there were 51” line also points in that direction. As does the fact that there’s a tunnel at the bottom of the silo … what/who is that for?!

Generally though, having a microcosm of society under duress and oppression is turning out to be a fantastic premise for a TV show willing to be patient with its development! I’m not watching that much TV but Silo and Andor are definitely my favs of the past few years!

Having read the books, you'll probably be pleased with the way the next season plays out.

I was wondering when they would bring in the before times part of the story and an happy to see that part of the mystery is going to be revealed.

Cheers!

As a book reader/fan … how do you feel about the show? Good adaptation?

Honestly, I read the books over 8 years ago, so I forget a lot of the smaller details. This makes it enjoyable to watch because I both know what will happen in terms of major plot points, but am discovering things moment by moment as well. When I was reading the series I kept thinking it would make a great show.

The TV version gets the atmosphere right, but has to sacrifice some of the pacing to make it work for the length of a season/episode.

I think the story is quite a bit different from the books, but I enjoy what they are doing with this version of the story. Loved the books, love the show.

Interesting, didn’t realise they had changed the story so much.

Planning to watch it later. Is it a cliffhanger?? Lol

I’d say it’s similar to season 1. So kinda yes, but also just part of the continuing story.

Pacing was terrible for me. It seemed like only in the last 2 episodes the plot moved forward, and even then not too much, and quite slowly.

I like the show and realistically will keep watching, but I'm going to be skipping ahead and fast forwarding if S3 is the same because it's just too slow for me.
