Why would a basketball court have to be shut down like this? Was a homeless person going to play basketball and they had to put a stop to it?

There's probably some reason why the court was unsafe to play on. I've seen them do this when the park was closed for construction.

Rightfully so, I still can't believe that basketball just said that publicly

This looks more like a NIMBY living next to a park or school got mad at kids being too loud one day and went to home Depot to do this themself to try and punish them for having fun in a public space despite them probably getting the house for cheap because it's nearby a loud area.

Kids were probably fighting or doing drugs

No way, look at that grass. That grass screams suburban dad spending too much time on the lawn.

Ever met suburban kids with neurotic lawn obsessed dads? Def could be drugs that got their hoop shut down

What do the bleachers in the background say about the dad?

Honestly didn't see the bleachers. Maybe not a dad, prob still suburban though. That's a short cut non native and over fertilized lawn of suburbia Americana.

I feel like kids in the burbs have nicer places to do drugs and fight than a public basketball court. Could be wrong though, I grew up on military bases.
