In total surprise to no one, #NVIDIA #RTX5080 card is just "meh": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEu6k-MdZgc

Video games, gaming, gamers, and such matters
@[email protected] This may sound like some lazy dev rhetoric but genuinely isn't.But it's simply a trend we see in all sectors. More & more people prefer watching idiots play games instead of actually playing themselves (playing ≠ Hard?) the enshittification logic sort of applies here IMO. Why invest in perfomant engines, hire compétant & skilled devs (too expensive the horror!) when we can pump out half assed crap (for the most part on UE5 but that's not Epic's fault) and let the GPU save the day?
I'm old-fashioned, and sure I'm biased since I am a graphics programmer. But just as I don't want AI features pushed on me, I don't want AI to generate frames for me. The game is generating frames, it has all the info to do it correctly (at a given quality level which involves tradeoffs, sure).
GPU manufacturers push 4k, then 8k, then rely on frame generation to be able to keep up performance. Why dont we generate fewer, higher-quality pixels at good frame rates instead?
I agree. The RTX 50 cards under RTX 5090 don't make sense for the most gamer (unless the gamer comes from something like RTX 2000).
