Welcome to Food Crimes! This community is here to collect all and any post about cursed food and generally unusual consumables.

How are the oyster crackers supposed to enhance this?? This has to be a gag
Coworkers bought and tried it today. I think the crackers give a bit of texture and saltiness to the sweet ice cream. My coworkers said it wasn't bad, kind of tastes like salted pumpkin spice. Which makes sense because skyline chili isn't real chili. I have long called it pumpkin spice meat sauce (very much not a fan, myself). And apparently the ice cream is just made with the spices from the chili. I looked up the nutrition facts and in addition to the normal ice cream ingredients, it only lists crackers and "spices", not like meat and tomato. So it'll have clove, cinnamon, all-spice, and probably a couple other flavors in there that skyline inexplicably puts in their chili. That honestly sounds pretty good on paper for ice cream. Now that is unless the also put chili powder or cumin in there... that would probably get pretty weird pretty fast.
Skyline "chili" is already a food crime. Absolutely atrocious abomination that could only come from the slime pits of Ohio.
Are you from Texas? I’ve noticed Texans tend to have much stronger opinions on chili than most people. I thought it was pretty decent as a chili “sauce” on their hot dogs. I think they gave me a sample on the spaghetti also; conceptually it was weird to me to put chili on spaghetti but in practice it seemed more like a meat sauce. Not like a chili that’s like it’s meal (edit: chili con carne was the term I was looking for).
I'm not from Texas, but all over. I've spent a significant amount of time in the west, however. Now, I concede I haven't had it on a dog (glizzy for my locals), I had it presented as a bowl of chili. When you expect chili, you can't just spring whatever that is on people.
Oh yeah, if you went into it expecting chili con carne and got something closer to a bolognese that would be a problem. I told the guy at Skyline I was a tourist and asked what it was so he gave me a bit of an explanation and some samples before I bought anything.
I’ve had chili chocolate ice cream and it’s good. This, however, is referring to Cincinnati chili sauce, which is basically a meat sauce for pasta.
I moved away from Cincinnati in September and I don't miss it lmao
We based ourselves in Cincinnati for the eclipse last year (or more accurately, Mason, literally viewing distance to Kings Island). I didn’t have a lot of expectations for it, but it was better than I expected. I’d go back, even if just to go to Kings Island when it’s actually open (which I’d thought was in Columbus because my knowledge of Ohio geography is not great).
Kings Island is pretty fantastic, it's been years but I always loved it.
Cincinnati is great to visit, lots of great museums and sights, but it's depressing as hell to live there imo. It's in an industrialized valley so it's very sooty and dirty, it's not walkable, and there's little social service wise so the poorest are fucking POOR there. Like, there is no scrap in empty lots because anything worth 5¢ has been sold.
I'm sad it's not better, I spent a decade there and grew up in the outskirts.
