Generally, an artifact should be 100+ years old, but this is a flexible requirement if you find something rare and suitably linked to an era of history, not a strict rule. Anything over 100 is fair game regardless of rarity.

Charlemagne's diploma from the year 813 bears witness to the conquest of Saxony by the Franks
1212 years ago. Astonishing.
The certificate is about giving a Saxon named Asik a forrest as restitution for the homeland his father Hiddi had to leave behind for being loyal to Karl (Charles) during the Saxon wars.
