Honestly, I know the story was trying to tell us how much of a genius Julius is, but he played this all very stupidly. What good is being King for a day before the whole nation is wiped out? He could have used the emergency as a way to gain support while the other royals were indisposed and avoided making as much of an enemy of Mia. Something like Hans did in the movie Frozen.

Genius at first, but egotistical arrogance probably led him to not put much effort into anything, thinking it'd all work out since he's 'the center'.
