And when they do regret transition enough to detransition, it's usually because their family was cruel to them and they feel too isolated.

I'm gonna be honest, one of my of my favorite people at one point years ago was/probably still is trans. I just want them to be happy. Do whatever it takes. They hurt no one with their own identity fulfilment.

It's amazing how clear it becomes when it's even slightly personal... unless you're a broken individual like Musk.

I was always supportive but now that I've got someone in my life who is in this fight, so the fuck am I!

that's very much how it went for me. I was a passive "ally" until I started organizing and meeting my trans coworkers. My attention was immediately pulled to how shitty healthcare and insurance can be for someone who just wants to live their life. I will vote no on the contract if we don't have adequate healthcare for trans folks

I'm a trans woman and a cis male friend of mine is about to get a mastectomy after losing a ton of weight and as we were talking I learned a blind spot I have. Apparently cis people aren't just used to fighting with insurers. Like one of the steps of gender affirming surgery is to quote the insurance company back to them after they deny you, getting to not do that is like getting to have surgery with only one or two letters of recommendation.

As more and more cis people realize they care about someone who is trans, the hate train will start to lose steam. I really hope this happens quickly. For myself, some of my absolute favourite people are trans and it's painful to see what these right-wingers put them through.

That’s what happened for gay people. It’s why they want people in the closet. It’s why areas with high amounts of immigration have less animosity towards immigrants. People are scared of concepts they don’t understand. Especially when propaganda tells them so. They aren’t afraid of people. They care about people.

For me it was literally that my wife and I had a spare room and a trans person was in need. That simple. We'd always talked about offering it up if a situation arose, and then someone on here of all places brought a situation to my attention. (Check my post history if you like, I'm not a prolific poster.)

That was eight months ago. They're part of our lives now, and I'm trying to learn what I need to do to continue to fight for them. Here in the United fucking States.

Which is why the right do everything to prevent folks from even communicating with trans individuals and to get trans people in the closet.

They know if people will be open, this will be a game over for the bigots.
