Remember when Obama promised to close Guantanamo? I remember.

Trump wants them in Guantanamo for two reasons: the general public equates Guantanamo with torture thanks to the treatment of “terrorists”, and Guantanamo isn’t on US soil so the government thinks they can get away with torture.
