An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.

https://dullmensclub.com/

1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine or advice forum.
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions, identify objects or get advice. We accept very few questions, and they must be over topics much more difficult than what is easily discoverable with a search. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. Not hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

8. All polls must have an "Africa, by Toto" option. Why? Because we hear the drums echoing tonight.

When you find a pair that works: buy a bunch. Right then and there.

On the fire crew I found a model from wells Lamont that fit just right and offered decent longevity. I bought 10 pair and was a happy man

They never are. I go through work gloces at a rate of about a pair every three-ish week, and what drives me bomkers is that it's nearly impossible to find a pair of work gloves that doesn't have the stupid touchscreen pads that don't even last a day. Gloves without the pads are either too bulky or too thin/would last about a day altogether.

I don't need the touch pad tips, and what I can't stand is the slippery fabric underneath the grippy touchpad surface that ruins my ability to grip things.

What gloves do you use? I've got a pair of Mechanix gloves that have been wearing pretty well - thicker than my usual gloves (muc-off work gloves) but they haven't stopped me working on fiddly stuff yet.

I’ve been using these VGO gloves from Amazon. They’re the best I’ve found so far, but that’s not an endorsement from me, more the best of a bunch of crappy choices.

I got pretty upset when I took a chance on a $25 pair of what were supposed to be heavy duty Milwaukee work gloves that didn’t last a week.

I’d be interested in those Mechanix gloves if you don’t mind sharing a link

I like the fastfit ones - because I'm a sucker I paid extra for the 100% bicycle mechanic ones. We're a vain bunch haha.

I've heard horror stories about knock offs from Amazon but these have given me no issues. I've used them for some harder work but not extensively so YMMV.
