The news about the UK direction for Apple to build a backdoor into e2e encryption all brings to question:

What do we do as regular tech users?

How do we know if something is really encrypted, or whether there are back doors built in, which will leave us vulnerable to crime, authoritarian starts and more when companies are mandated to not declare backdoors?
