Seriously, what’s the significance of the word? There are many teens in my neighborhood, as well as me having a teenage sister, who laugh hysterically at the word.

Some people will respond with “Wanna know what else is massive?” Is this a sex joke or something?

[I live in the US now but grew up where many people did not speak English so I may not understand jokes that well even if my parents are English speakers.]

Edit: Looks like it’s from someone called Ninja. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/ninjas-massive-you-know-what-else-is-massive

The kids are using massive as slang? Big if true.

There's that word again. Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the Earth's gravitational pull?

I think you mean AGAIN.

90s kids know that jungle is massive

It's a common error but I do believe the correct spelling is "junglist massive" as in "there are a lot of junglists". But many people say it like you did (or at least used to, no idea if junglist are still massive).

With that all said, I was also expecting the thread to be about this and thinking "I'm no teen and I definitely know massive".

I always assumed from context that the "jungleist massive" was a group of people that liked "jungleist" music.

He also talks about the east side and West side massive.

both were known, and argued about pre internet of course. I never thought to look it up til now. It's possible it was just the pocket of dumb mostly white kids in my small town I grew up in that got it wrong tho

Def not if anything I think more people know it the other way around, it's just a fun bit of dnb trivia.

I can't answer the question exactly just giving some thoughts.
Slang words these days are quick to rise and fall. Unless you're in the in-group you'll have a hard time figuring it out.

I'd recommend following this guy on any of the platforms, he tries to keep up with linguistic trends.
