This is a weird article, but maybe it's meant for people who don't watch the show to get interested in it? Or maybe it's the classic "cartoons are for kids" misunderstanding?

Yes, being a superhero is hard. Yes, being a teenage superhero is extra hard. Yes, that is clearly the exact show they intended to make.

I'm reminded of a something Seth Rogan said when he worked on the most recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. That many stories about the TMNT forget that our heroes are TEENAGERS. They're young, they fuck up, they learn. As superheros the stakes are usually real, but it's still a character that is learning and growing.

Hell in one of the most recent episodes Spider-Man goes up against another hero. That hero even says something like, "You seem like a nice kid, trying to do the right thing, but you're on the wrong side."

I don't want a superhero story about a character that is perfect.
