This week, my 4-year-old daughter started attending a subsidized daycare. We've gone from paying $46/day + $125 in additional fees minus a daycare credit of $634/month ($4,473/year) to $8.75/day + $160 in additional fees ($2,435 annually). That's quite a shift in our monthly expenses ($170/month).
According to the Quebec government's calculator, this should result in an annual saving of $975 when factoring in federal tax deductions and the difference in the Canadian child benefit.
So far, my daughter really seems to enjoy it.
