On Anime
While Anime is a beloved animation style with a rich history and extensive following, our focus here leans towards other forms of animation. This is due to the immense popularity of Anime in online spaces, which is amply covered by other dedicated communities.
This doesn't mean that Anime related conversation is not allowed here, only that it's not our focus. For a dedicated Anime instance, check out ani.social.
On Technical Discussion
While our primary goal is to discuss animated media, conversations about animation techniques and the process of creating animation are also welcome. Whether you're a budding animator seeking to understand more about the industry, or a seasoned professional sharing your experiences, you're welcome here.

Flow was an incredibly beautiful film. Truly the only thing I've watched for a couple years that felt genuinely hopeful.
Excellent animation, creative storytelling, and not a single spoken (or written) word.
Currently streaming on Max.
As a gigantic fan of animation as an artform, I don't think I would have picked Flow as the best animated feature. The film's third act never really congeals and the movie just ends abruptly. I'm not the kind of narrative purist that insists on bulletproof storytelling, but when a film is in the running against multiple strong contenders that tell a solid story (Memoir of a Snail was my favorite this year), it's hard to justify the win.
But I think I know what the Academy is doing. They're eager to put this award into the hands of ANYBODY churning out animated fare that's different from the same old Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks products year after year.
The potatoes...!
I was kind of rooting for Wallace and Gromit based entirely on nostalgia. I need to watch Flow and a few other oscar winners that I missed this year.
I haven't seen Wallace & Grommet but Flow deserves all the cred it's getting - beautiful film.
