The kernel supports it already? That's fast

they can get fucked with those prices, along with the fat fuck with the skinny jackets. tech is supposed to get better and cheaper at the same time.

RX 570, a midrange GPU, was introed at $170 in 2017. almost a decade later, midrange starts at $600? gtfo.

9070 is high-end

Yeah i must say i'm a bit confused at why youtubers are glazing this 9070 card so much. First of all like you said, prices are still not down to what they used to be before the first mining craze, second of all: why are they pretending that this is the first time amd has a decent answer to an nvidia 70 series card? From what i remember they always had cards that could compete with that, the problem was usually that they couldn't compete with the 80/90 series cards (which is probably still going to be a problem now). I also don't see how this is going to impact competition at all. Most people judging by steam surveys are buying 60 series cards, and those people also seem to keep insisting on buying nvidia instead of an amd equivalent, so i'm skeptical.

The one thing though... There's room left for performance optimizations. The main downside of my initial Linux testing was that the performance wasn't as great as what's been reported under Windows 11 with the official Radeon Windows driver.

I'd love to see some actual numbers. I'm considering getting one for myself, but I'm unsure about how they will perform for the first couple of months until we get proper support

Also, concerning the quotation: Isn't that always how AMD has functioned? Release a card that on paper should perform well but in reality takes a year to mature due to ongoing driver development?

They really need to fix that.

I recon linux drivers need still some improvement. If I recall correctly there is some underway for 6.14 and 15

Compared to Windows, definitely a fair way to go optimisation wise. Still, great to see they're already supported in mainline

What's wrong with GTA V? The RTX 3080 fares better than the RX 9070 XT. The 9070 performances are also all over the place in Quake II RTX.

Yeah there's definitely some oddities there, like Cyberpunk not working at all
