Great quote: "The term 'recovery' can be misleading" says Dr Chris Mays, Leader of the Mass Extinction Group at University College Cork, "forests recover eventually, but extinction is forever."

I jumped to the assumption this would be about the PETM, the most recent and best understood catastrophe, but of course the one mentioned was far worse. We're exceeding both at the rate of change so far, so that doesn't bode well.
