Lol, there are torrents for cracked photoshop versions which work. Adobe is fucking extortion.

Jokes on you, I can download a movie torrent within 10 minutes max. With much better quality than Netflix.

God bless torrents and the people who seed them

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 years ago (1 children)

are you in some private torrent?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 years ago (1 children)

No, just pirate bay is usually quite good.

avoid tpb. use something like 1337x and rarbg. Awesome-piracy is a list of websites considered good for piracy. it's on github and written by mod of r/piracy(reddit)

AFAIK the only reasons why I wouldn't use TPB is because it is more likely there to be viruses since uploads are not curated and they used to have a cryptocurrency miner.

Thats only a concern with games or software, not movies etc.

I think you could experience some virus in a film or music, but I agree it will be more rare. Still I use them, too.

This hypothetical situation will haunt me for the rest of my life. I already can't watch Netflix because I don't own a smart TV and my phone doesn't pass SafetyNet so Netflix refuses to open. In this situation I would whip out some of my external drives and we would have to pick one of the movies I've already downloaded from a csv file, and hopefully one that is not h265 encoded otherwise my laptop would stutter all the time. Oh my god I feel extremely uncomfortable if I think about this

Raspberry Pi 4 with Kodi installed hooked into your tv. Install samba on your laptop and share movies, load this share into Kodi. Now you have open source and local Netflix, you're welcome.

I've actually used this setup for a while (but not with samba, I simply plugged my drives to an usb hub). The only issue is that my pi3 + kodi cannot play 4K movies (it would simply freeze, as far as I know the pi3 cannot play 4K files properly (was it 4K files or x265 encoded files? I don't remember)). Another issue I've run into is that for some reasons, the voice track volume was always extremely low. It's been two years now, I would like to try to set it up again and see if now it works better. Anyway at some point I decided to dismiss the whole thing and now I simply plug my laptop to the tv. I figured MPV properly plays x265 files

Where pic? Pic deleted?

I got ur, we're the same. For using YouTube, try Newpipe. For Netflix, you have torrents and telegram 😁. Even I'm into open source stuff these days and I suggest them, but very few of them car. Remember, if the person doesn't know tech, it's a sure denial.

So i was expecting a lot of counter-arguments but found none??? Is this incel-town???

TLDR: MUST WATCH Contrapoint's video on Incels

Here's a few arguments:

  • free-software enthusiasm is not inherently masculine ; lots of girls and enbies do torrents and hardcore GNU/stuff, too
  • you don't have to find specifically a "girl" to loose your virginity, though male-based heterosexuality is implied here
  • you don't need to loose your virginity to develop meaningful relationships with people, and you don't need to develop meaningful relationships to loose your virginity (plenty of people who have sex have no idea what it's like to feel/love for someone, not sure they're having a much better time)
  • having ethical/political debates can be a turn-on, but usually not right at the precise instant someone asks you "out" on movie night ; you can politely/excitedly accept the invitation, then move on to mention it won't be a Netflix thing though
  • you could silently disregard the ethical question about Netflix, and download seasons and seasons of Netflix series in advance before your friend comes over
  • statistically, people concerned about software freedom are a minority within the minority, so it's very unlikely you'll meet like-minded people at school
  • throughout life, you can and probably should make some compromises (unless they're reactionary bigots) ; i mean if every one is as intransigent as you are about their issue of choice, then communication becomes impossible

While you have good points and Contrapoints's video is brilliant, this is a copypasta from 2016

  • It's hard to find anyone who goes to this lengths to support free software
  • OP is clearly interested in women
  • lose* i think you are projecting on the virginity thing, op simply said "find a girl"
  • op said they can't text, use netflix, or youtube, not so much a debate there
  • good idea
  • correct
  • reactionary bigot is definitely a value judgement but ok
