My app has started to not acknowledge that I've tapped a link for about 1 to 2 seconds after I've tapped it. It will, however, still collapse the comment, which is wildly frustrating.

Yes. I don't think the app is being actively developed.

For post links, though, you can tap the link button on the toolbar between the post an comments. That one opens instantly.

My personal favorites in order:

  1. Summit

  2. Voyager

  3. Boost

  4. Eternity

  5. Thunder

  6. Connect

  7. Sync only if it gets updated to work properly again

I'm trying summit now. I have to get used to certain things like having the ability to hide read at the bottom context menu instead of the upper right, but so far it definitely feels smoother.

You can add a shortcut to the floating button that appears in the lower right part of the main feed to hide the read posts with press and hold action.

probably worth a try. I have gotten dms from bots recently that I can't mark as read or dismiss in this app

Yes, it is annoying. I recommend you to disable "Click to collapse comment", comments will then only collapse when you hold them.

I would sooner switch apps then add a total of 1 day of my life wasted over a year waiting one second for every comment I want to collapse.

I usually only collapse comments when the thread inside them gets too long, and use the floating navigation bar to go to next comment

Does it happen with all links, or only some websites? I've had this for ages with some websites (ex. CBC), where it's faster to copy the link URL and paste it in a browser. Other links work fine
