MacOS, with its need for a pointing device and its exposed filesystem? I call bullshit.

Either it’ll run macOS as it currently is and be a usability catastrophe, they’ll nerf macOS to the point where desktop power users stop being able to do with it what they need, or they’ll make a new “macOS” for phones, which is essentially what iOS is. (And yes, they could unlock iOS further by letting users browse their filesystems or sideload apps or whatever, but if it runs primarily on a phone-like device, it’d still make more sense to call it iOS than macOS.)

Having the ability to swap back and forth between macOS and iPadOS would be enough for me to consider it.

They definitely won’t do that but…

This website is cancer, so:

Apple is working on a giant foldable device, which could be a version of the iPad Pro or a MacBook, as it is slated to feature an 18.8-inch screen. The confusion regarding the product arose when it became clear that the device would not be equipped with a dedicated physical keyboard. However, the fact that it could be folded like a laptop did not completely rule out the possibility of it being a MacBook. It is now being reported that the company's 18.8-inch foldable device will run macOS instead of iPadOS, making it a close relative to the MacBook lineup rather than the iPad.

A MBP like this sounds horrible. I’ve seen some other manufacturers do this, where they have a screen on the bottom and it’s a keyboard… I know apple is great at haptic feedback, but that’s still a big bucket of nope for me. A fold out iPad, running iOS would be kinda cool, but also way too clunky. I’m not sure the use case here.
