As much as i agree with the commission on this, the fact that there is no credible alternative to these US-based systems is a failure on our part.

It’s good we can force foreign powers to obey to our laws, it would be better if we have our own systems to compete.

That’s exactly why targeted direction of development in China is so powerful. They have alternatives to almost every US tech company, basically the only country with that kind of sovereignty on earth. Other countries should follow suit, and incentivize development of local alternatives. I’m from the US, but I can’t say I wouldn’t be glad to see people wean off US tech, it would be good for all of us.

It would be interesting to see Trump defend Apple. Although they’re subservient to him, they’re probably not quite as subservient as he’d like.
