All actions (except for user deletion), including deleting, removing, etc are reversible.

We have an issue for allowing admins to purge content from the DB. The reason for not allowing users to do this, is a community is usually filled with not just your content, but posts, comments from many other users. A DB delete would delete all that data.

Honestly, I think it's better to delete all the data than to maintain a "ghost" community: example https://lemmy.ml/c/testi. The same applies to "deleted" comments.

I believe there is a trash icon on the top right sidebar of the community. Afaik this is the only way to remove a community, I'm not sure if it fully deletes or not as I have not used it.

The trash does not delete it, it just hides it.

Well then I'm not sure there is a was to permanently delete a community. Lemmy is not officially released yet after all, so some features haven't been fully implemented.
