From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

A little update on the story.

This was a fake account. However, Linus has indeed joined the Fediverse, but his handle is @[email protected]

He's been regular too, I love reading through his posts as a pleb

Furthermore, he doesn't use Mastodon exactly, but Akkoma (which is mostly compatible with Mastodon clients while being much lighter)

He's a self-described atheist, so I seriously doubt he chose a christian instance =/

Okay fair point

Works via follow-request. Does not look like a typical Bot Account.

Seems legit, however could be an imposter anyway. There is also not really any account activity. 2 lousy posts. Not really worth to follow.

Did a request to see if he accept me or not, will ask him, if I know more I update the post here.

The lack of account activity is what makes it seem legit imo.

I am not sure, the issue I have is the Instance. It says something about christianity, I doubt he is into such things.

The problem with Mastodon is that there is no verification badge system like on Twitter, which makes it hard to spot a faker.

I asked on Twitter, maybe I get an answer.

Lol, but there is an emoji for the verified checkmark. When I first used mastodon I saw an account "Tony Stark" and it had that emoji. And it had me questioning for a second even though Tony Stark is not a real person and verification wouldn't exist on the fediverse.
