MODERATORS

I can see that there's too much blocked instances for lemmy.

Just want to know what conditions they haven't met (despite the fact that some of them has explicit content) and if deploying my own instance to lower load on lemmy and beehaw was a bad idea.

Most of them were badly moderated, trolls signed up there and then flooded federated instances with nazi insignia and fecal porn. You probably won't have to worry about being blocked as long as you keep spam, scam and trolls out :)

Oh, okay, thanks for the answer! I've closed the registration for that case.

You could also use approve-first method for registration if you still want to be open for new users. This brought down spam to nearly zero on feddit.de

Yeah, I'll think about that.

Right now I'm trying to understand why I only see like 20% of comments, missing ones from instances, that not connected to mine. Like, number of connected instances is growing through the time, so I think my instance will fetch all of them at some moment, but I'm not sure.

You need to select undetermined as one of your languages in the settings! Select every language you want to see and undetermined. It's quite a new setting that's not fully explained yet.

It's selected by default with all other languages both in instance settings and at my personal.

I think, my instance still pulling them, because number of comments on lemmy.ml's posts growing up faster than on original post, but its still less than there.

It's not for me either, but in my opinion it is a bad idea to exclude weird fetishes from federation. Just because I don't like it, it should still be allowed on the Fediverse. Where do we draw the line between "troll scam" and free speech?

That is easy to answer. Porn or gore do not belong to the Technology community. I don't mind what they do in dedicated communities and servers.

People who work in technology do like porn sometimes. Of course, they should have their own community for that - but nothing's wrong with federating them.

People were spamming from these servers, it's not like they had opinions that we disagreed with.
